Welcome!

If we have yet to meet, my name is David, and this portfolio is a product of a side passion of mine that began back in my sophomore year of high school when I first dug my parents old DSLR camera out of their closet. Over the years, my involvement in photography has waxed and waned as I tried to balance school, work, and my endless list of additional hobbies and interests. Anyone who knows me well enough could tell you that I have probably thrown myself into every niche interest that I could make time for, and that list will continue growing as long as I have a say in it. As you look through this portfolio you will probably notice some commonalities, most prominently that I continually find myself drawn to the outdoors, and more specifically, the coast. Although this passion has never become a professionally focused avenue for me, it has always served as a creative outlet for me to share parts of my life and seek new experiences.

I am originally from the rainy town of Portland, Oregon, and growing up I took part in as many sports as my schedule would allow. From street hockey games my friends and I would organize in our neighborhood, to travel club soccer teams, my life revolved around finding a sport to play and throwing myself wholeheartedly at it. By the time I reached high school, I turned my focus to cross country and track, and spent three years reminding myself just how painful running can be. College brought me to California where I attended Santa Clara University, graduating with a major in Accounting. I filled my free time during those years with a collection of activities that included surfing, intramural soccer, and the premier sport of the collegiate world, club Ultimate Frisbee.

Nowadays I am based out of San Francisco, having recently started my post-grad professional career in the city. I spent much of my first year in the city trying to find the right balance between furthering my career and holding on to the various hobbies I had accumulated over the years. I may go bankrupt over Volo league prices, but I am determined to hold onto the things that have driven me for so much of my life. As my life continues to evolve, I hope to have photography hold its place as a creative outlet for me to document and share those things that are important to me. Appreciate you stopping by, and please enjoy your time here!
